Districts and places of Paris in the course of history: Montmartre

Title of the thesis: Districts and places of Paris in the course of history: Montmartre Keywords: streets, squares, history, cabaret, bohemian, film, point of interest Abstract: The subject of the bachelor's thesis is the Parisian district of Montmartre. In many aspects it is quite an exceptional quarter and totally different from other districts of Paris. Its characteristic features make it famous worldwide. Thus the chief aim of the work was to try to find out what is so specific about it, what makes its position in Paris so privileged and in what way it has contributed to the overall development of French culture. The work is conceived as a specific historical and cultural view of the district and strives at picking up its most characteristic features which brought it to the notice of the French themselves as well as members of other peoples around the world. What contributed to the latter to a great degree were its architectonic monuments, and, moreover, its cabarets and concert cafés. On top of that, it was also made famous through the works of many renowned artists.

This thesis deals with the history of the Cistercian monastery of Žďár nad Sázavou in the second half of the 17th century, specifically from 1676 till 1705. In 1676, after almost four decades since the Cistercian Order had regained control of the seigniory in Žďár and the convent had been re-established, the monks were allowed to elect their own Abbot. Benedikt Zaunmüller, the prior of the monastery of Vyšší Brod, was elected and remained Abbot of Žďár till 1691 when he was forced to resign on health grounds. He was succeeded by Edmund Bagner, the first of the Abbots of the re-established monastery who was elected from the members of the Žďár convent and remained in office till his death in 1705. The scope of this thesis corresponds with the terms of office of these two Abbots who significantly contributed to the improvement in the economic situation of the monastery and the expansion of the personnel of the convent in Žďár and who are indisputably among the significant personalities of the Žďár Abbey. The outset of the thesis provides an overview of the available archival sources and existing literature on the topic. Selected quarries and adjacent areas of xerophilous grassland in Bohemian karst were examined for the presence of velvet spider burrows. Selected microhabitat valuables were collected and their significance for ladybird spider analyzed.

The goal of this thesis is observing the functions that the setting of the text Te Deum laudamus had throughout the musical history, approximately since the fifteenth century. It examines the occasions for which the Te Deum was written by important composers of their times. The study focuses on Czech eighteenth-century music, addressing the lack of research in this period. Works of two important Czech composers of Classicism, Jan Zach and Vojtěch Jírovec, were chosen for edition, which consists in transcribing the works into today{\crq}s clefs and presenting them in scores. The study further deals with the form and style of the selected works.
